Albion Club Med Beach
Albion Club Med Beach is located in the village of Albion, in the west part of Mauritius. This is one of the many beaches of Mauritius situated in the Black River district.
Albion Club Med Beach is also known as Dodo Beach.
Selected as the location for the popular resort La Plantation d’Albion Club Med, this beach is naturally of a high class. Enjoy the clear, shallow waters and a good kilometer of fine white sand.
A small part of the beach is reserved for the Club Med patrons, however the majority of the beach is available to the general public.
Albion Club Med Beach is easily accessible via a long bridge crossing a small river. This makes the beach a very quiet one – it is not possible to access the beach by car. Parking is however possible on the village side of the small bridge, and public transport buses run right next to the bridge, so access is still convenient.
For picnic shopping or the odd ice cream, the Dodo Supermarket (the largest in Albion) is conveniently located a couple of minutes walk from the main beach. Although not comparable to supermarket chains, such as Winner’s or London Way, the Dodo store does stock the most essential items, including flip flops, and general beach wear. It even sports a small post office counter, offering a few basic postal services.
There is a small restaurant next to the supermarket, serving local Mauritian cuisine, alcoholic beverages, as well as a few cross kitchen attempts. You will also find plenty of snack stands closer to Albion central beach.
To the north, towards the central beach, and right near the coast guard office, the waters are shallow, calm and offer perfect snorkelling conditions.
