Palmar Beach is located near the village of Palmar, in the east part of Mauritius. This is one of the many beaches of Mauritius situated in the Flacq district.
Palmar Beach is also known as Villas Palmar Beach.
Situated between the vast beach lands of Quatre Cocos and the popular Belle Mare beaches, few people seem to bother stopping by Palmar Beach, which does not really come as a big surprise.
There is little to see and do here, unless you’re a customer of one of the nearby hotel resorts, or if you’re lucky enough to own one of the newly built bungalows and villas overlooking the Indian Ocean horizon.
Palmar public beach is a small, sleepy one, with a few benches, a couple of patches of sand and not a lot else. Access to the beach is convenient, since the main road is literally next to the beach, although there is no designated parking space.
The residential areas around Palmar beach are limited in size, and the village of Palmar is a good 2 kilometres away from the coast. This means that not even the locals seem to bother going here, apart from the odd fisherman trying his luck out, and the area in general is lacking in terms of facilities.
If you’re trekking from the south, you will come across Palmar beach as you exit the Quatre Cocos beach lands and head towards Belle Mare, but as a beach itself, there are far nicer ones to be found in the neighbouring areas of Quatre Cocos, and away from the coastal road.
